Submitting a claim made easy

You want to report an insurance claim? We are there for you so that everything "gets back on track" quickly.

The quickest way to file a claim for travel health insurance, cancellation insurance and travel curtailment insurance: simply fill out the form online and upload the necessary documents.

Note on the processing time

The greatly increased volume of travel this year - everyone wants to take a proper holiday again after two years - and the still high number of corona infections are causing a high volume of claims. Unfortunately, this is currently causing delays in the processing of claims. We therefore ask you for a little more patience than usual.

Please help us to speed up the processing of claims: we would prefer you to use our online forms. Please also check in advance that you have submitted all the required documents and provided all the necessary information. Please also remember to provide a current mailing address, email address and bank account information. Thank you for your support!

Do you still have questions? Here we answer frequently asked questions about claims.

In the event of a claim, we generally require the following documents from you:

  • Copy of the booking confirmation of the organiser
  • Copy of the insurance certificate
  • The bank details of the recipient for payment of any compensation (for foreign transfers, the IBAN number and the BIC code)

Travel accident insurance

If you are claiming under your travel accident insurance, please note the following:

  • In the event of an accident, a doctor must be consulted immediately.

  • The accident must be reported immediately to HanseMerkur Travel Insurance.

  • An accident resulting in death must be reported to HanseMerkur Travel Insurance within 48 hours, even if the accident itself has already been reported.

  • If HanseMerkur cannot be reached, the accident must be reported immediately to the Emergency Service on +43 1 315 2444.

If you submit a claim under your travel assistance insurance, please note the following:

  • We provide the benefits from this insurance via our worldwide 24-hour emergency call service. This can be reached around the clock on +43 1 3152444 .
